Welcome to Webelos II
Written by Patrick Hall
We are looking forward to another great year of scouting as we prepare our scouts to transition over to Boy Scouts. Our goal this year is to achieve Cub Scout’s highest rank the Arrow of Light. It is the only Cub Scout badge that may be worn on the Boy Scout uniform and helps to prepare the scouts on their path toward Eagle Scout.
During our first meeting the scouts chose their patrol logo the Panthers and started to learn the basics of becoming a Boy Scout by working on requirement two for the Arrow of Light.
1. Repeat from memory and explain in your own words the Scout Oath or Promise and the 12 points of the Scout Law. Tell how you have practice them in your every day life.
2. Give and explain the scout motto, slogan, sign, salute and handshake.
3. Understand the significance of the First Class Scout badge. Describe its parts and tell what each stands for.
4. Tell how a Boy Scout uniform is different from a Webelos Scout uniform.
5. Tie a Square knot.
These requirements are taken from the Cub Scout Webelos Handbook. Page 63, 2008 printing.
