Bike Rodeo

November 7th 10:00-12:00 am

Good opportunity to  knock out some bear requirements

Kids of all ages are invited to participate in the Kids Bike Rodeo from 10AM to 12 noon on Saturday November 7th.  Bring your bike and helmet to the Arvest parking lot off the square and join in the fun.  The rodeo will enhance children's bicycle safety skills and will be followed by a family fun ride on the Crystal Bridges bike trail to the Slaughterpen Hollow Jam where there will be dirt bike performances.  After all that riding, you are bound to be hungry!  Gusano's will be selling pizza during the afternoon activities.

The bike rodeo is a great way for children of all ages to learn the basics on bike safety skills. For this event, Bentonville is fortunate to have the actual Director of Education for the League of American Bicyclist (Preston Tyree) all the way from Austin Texas on hand to oversee the event.

A course will be set up using orange cones and tennis balls cut in half as well as chalk lined versions of street intersections.  Children will navigate several "stations" on their bicycles. Stations can include an overall bike safety check, learning to safely cross intersections, using hand signals, balance skills and many more.

Bentonville Square" is at the 100 blocks of Main and Central Streets in downtown Bentonville (where the County Courthouse is).

I am excited to be involved in Cubscouts. I have been involved with Girl Scouts for several years and with Cub/Boy Scouts in and out in that time too.  We are going to start things off with earning the Whittlin' Chip, learning knife safety, etc.  The boys will need to carve a bar of soap into some animal or other object.  They may need do some of that at home.  We will work on this the 21st and 28th.
Dues are $5/month.  Please put them in an envelope with their name and I will have a binder you can leave them in and any notes you need to get me.
